What is Straw
The straw, or drinking straw in English, is a cylindrical, hollow plastic product. Its main function is to drink the beverage in the cup, and it is also used to suck the bone marrow of some cooked animals.
Generally, the diameter is about 0.5cm, but when used to drink yogurt, pearl milk tea and other drinks, a thicker straw is used, and some have a diameter of 1.2cm. Some are less common, straws with very small diameters are used for hot drinks. The straw uses the principle of atmospheric pressure. When in use, it sucks part of the air against the straw, which will cause the pressure in the tube to decrease. In order to balance the air pressure, the atmospheric pressure will force the liquid in the tube to rise. When you stop inhaling, the liquid in the tube drops and the pressure returns to equilibrium. This is the wonderful principle and application of straws. After the invention of plastic, plastic was better than paper straws because of its flexibility and aesthetics, so paper straws were replaced by colorful plastic straws.
